Charlie’s Chicago is our primary dance venue and together we build, strengthen, and support Chicagoland's LGBTQ+ country/western dance community.
SCCDA hosts:
We work hard to build a truly inclusive community through which people may find not only their love of country/western dance, but also to discover true freedom and acceptance.
While we always encourage people to wear country gear if they have it and feel comfortable (of if they like drink discounts from 7-8pm 😉), there is no dress code at Charlie’s Chicago or at SCCDA events. Come as you are and we’ll be happy to meet you.
SCCDA offers FREE lessons at every event we host. Beside line dancing, we teach and dance the country (or Texas) two-step, both east and west coast swing, country waltz, shadow, nightclub two-step and MORE! You won’t be an expert off that bat, but stick with it and eventually you’ll be gliding across the floor like a pro!
Many people who attend SCCDA functions do not dance. We have line dancers, parter dancers, some of us are versatile, and there are those who just come to watch and enjoy with a drink and some friends. Even if you’re not a dancer (or not a dancer yet) you’re very welcome to attend.
SCCDA’s lessons are FREE! There is no cover or lesson fee so there’s no barrier to entry. All are welcome to attend and learn with us. If you decide you appreciate the community, an optional membership package is available for a minimum suggested donation of $40 during membership season, Nov 1-Jan 31 of each year. The rest of the year the price is $60. The additional cost goes toward the additional cost of shipping small orders. Financial assistance is available. Reach out to gimhoff@sccdance.org.
