Brent Collins-Ruebensam started coming to Charlie’s Chicago and learning country dancing in 2011 when a friend who’d recently started coming told him how he was drawn in by the welcoming atmosphere and fun experience. He was initially skeptical because he’d never listened to country music before. But he was also drawn in by the community and fun of learning dances and made many of his closest friends through the community. He also has performed with the various dance troupes over the years and joined the board of SCCDA in 2019 with the formation of Firebrand, for which he is on the dance troupe’s steering committee. He is also one of the regular DJ’s for Wednesday night dances. Some of his favorite dances include Counting Stars, Shivers, and Back It Up.
