MJ Collins-Ruebensam is originally from Savannah, Georgia. He moved to Chicago in 2012 but never really got involved with the country dance community until meeting his partner and started coming to Charlie’s Chicago in 2015. He started off as the photographer for the different dance troupes the organization has had over the years. Then in 2020 he left the photography behind and became one of the dancers for the dance troupe Firebrand. In 2019 MJ joined the board of SCCDA and has held the title of Treasurer since that time. He also is one of the regular DJ’s at Charlie’s and loves to play a variety of music, but his favorite style to play is the Waltz. Outside of the country dance community, you can find MJ working on his artwork or working on new recipes for his restaurant concept.
